Arsenal win the Fairs Cup against Anderlecht

When Arsenal welcomed Anderlecht to Highbury for the second leg of the European Fairs Cup Final in April 1970, they had a mountain to climb.

After a 3-1 defeat in Belgium, Arsenal had to win by two goals to claim thir first ever European honour. After 17 years with no silverware (and we thought we had it bad!) the Highbury crowd were desperate for the boys to turn it around.

What followed was one of finest nights of European football ever seen at Hghbury...

Farewell Highbury

After Arsenal's final game at Highbury most cameras turned their attention to the glass and glamour of the Emirates. One lens though remained firmly fixed on our grand old home.

This slideshow of images shows in detail how Arsenal's former stadium was torn down as it's transformation from 'the home of football' to homes came to pass. A strangely harrowing viewing experience.

David Rocastle - A Tribute

Seeing as we're featuring a new illustration of David 'Rocky' Rocastle by Steve Welsh, it seemed like an apt moment to also post this terrific video tribute to one of Arsenal's favourite sons.

David Dein, Alan Davies, George Graham, Matt Lucas, Perry Groves, Alan Smith and Steve Bould share their memories of a man and player who is truly missed.
