Kanu walks the ball home

While his hat trick against Chelsea and back heel away at Middlesbrough are arguably Kanu's most famous goals in an Arsenal shirt, this delightfully cheeky effort against Deportivo La Coruna is probably the Nigerian's best at Highbury.

Often accused of trying to walk the ball into the back of the net during the Arsene Wenger era, on this particular occasion the accusation wasn't far wrong. Arsenal won the UEFA Cup quarter-final 1st leg 5-1 and eventually made it to the final where they cruelly lost on penalties to Galatasaray.

Kanu was a totally unique footballer!

I always thought when watching him, that he must have been a defender's worst nightmare, as you just never knew what he would do with his first touch. Sometimes it worked, and sometimes not, but it was always interesting!

However, for every example of sublime skill like this (and his hat-trick at the Bridge) there were half a dozen incidents where he over-complicated the play when given a clear sight of goal, with the result that chance went away.
